Trailing Ouachita State Park
Today was a great day to hit the trail! Cool in the morning and warming up to about 61 degrees. My son and I left the Little Rock area around 7:30 am and were in the park by 9. As you can tell the sun was shining and the sky was blue antipating the springing forward of the clocks tonight. Winter has been HARSH! After stopping by the visitor's center for a map, we drove over to the trailhead, put on our hiking boots and packs, then headed out on this short 4 mile loop. I would classify this trail as EASY-TO-MODERATE. There are 3 or 4 steep hills, but they're not a mile long like they are on the Ouachita Trail. Just take your time going up them. There are some benches along the way to rest and a great overlook about 1.8 miles in. All in all, perfect hike to begin the trailing season!
